Parenting Advice You Don’t Want To Ignore

Life can be funny. If you have a child, or you’re about to become a parent for the first time, you are going to get loads of people coming to you with advice. Whether it’s your own parents giving you a lesson on how they brought you up, or your child-rearing mates with their own titbits of advice, you are going to get inundated with guidance. So much in fact, that eventually you are going to turn yourself off to what other people are saying, and go your own way regardless. After all, your child, your rules! How dare other people tell you what to do. The trouble is, of course, there are some pieces of advice worth listening to.

No matter your situation, here are the pieces of advice we think are worth heeding. Be sure to pass them onto other mums, and if they don’t listen, well, at least you tried.

Sleep whenever you can

As a new mum, not being able to sleep is a given. Being awoken at 3 am by your child screaming the house down is going to disrupt your beauty sleep. Still, there are ways to reduce the problem. These are the perfect cots and cot beds we think you should consider, as a comfortable child is going to sleep a little better, and remember that your partner needs to take his turn looking after your little one in the early morning hours. However, you do need to face reality, so settle in with your child’s sleeping pattern. If they sleep during the day, get a power nap at the same time. Your body will need it, and you will feel better as a result.

You’re not superhuman

There are always going to be those mums who appear to know everything there is know about raising a child. Their child never has temper tantrums. Their house is always immaculately clean. They have everything under control, and nothing will ever phase them. As if! Nobody is perfect, and no matter what image they convey to you, they are not perfect! So, don’t worry if you are late on the school run. Fear not if your child kicks off in the supermarket. Who cares if your house is a mess on a regular basis! Parenting can be tough, so relax, realise you are only human and give yourself a break!

Take care of yourself

As a mum, your first instinct is to take care of your child. That’s normal, and if that weren’t the case, we’d be worried. Still, you do need to take care of yourself. Unless you want to burn yourself out, you need to take time out and still be ‘you,’ making time to do the things you enjoy. Therefore, become best friends with your potential childminders, and give yourself a night off now and then. Get your partner to take responsibility for your child while you enjoy a night with your mates. Record your favourite tv shows and watch them when you finally have a minute. In short, live your life! Your family won’t fall apart if you have some ‘me time’ occasionally, so take care of your needs as well as your child’s.

Finally

MATCHED BETTING DIARY…15 MONTHS ON

My monthly matched betting diaries detail the amount of money I make matched betting each month. What with running this blog, managing some other work I’ve taken on and looking after two young children, I don’t have a lot of spare time for matched betting. However, I still manage to make around £500 per month. By sharing these diary entries I aim to show how this is possible.

If you’re wondering how you can find the time for matched betting, then check out my matched betting daily planner. This sets out the different activities I complete every day to help me stay on top of my matched betting.

MATCHED BETTING EARNINGS

SEPTEMBER 2017 – £450.25

  • The total amount I made matched betting in September 2017 was £450.25.

After a quiet summer and time out of the country last month, I was looking forward to making some decent money once again this month.

There were lots of offers available to take part in. However, I didn’t factor in that I had plans every weekend this month. This is when most of the offers are available. So, as the month progressed, I was doubtful whether I’d make anywhere near my £500 target. However, by attempting some reload offers I’d previously dismissed I found that my earnings kept creeping up. I’d previously ignored them because I thought they might involve too much effort for very little reward. However, in reality, they actually didn’t involve too much extra effort at all. The lesson from this is to always attempt as many different offers as possible.

In fact, if I hadn’t had some bad luck on my accumulator bets, I’d have met my target easily. However, I’m more than happy to have only fallen short of the £500 target by only £50. Particularly as my matched betting was limited to a maximum of 4-5 hours each week.

MATCHED BETTING EARNINGS TO DATE – £8382.86

matched betting mum monthly diary earnings

I’ve made nearly £8500 since I started matched betting last year.

I’ve made a total of £8382.86 since I started matched betting in July 2016.

You might want to look at my previous income reports, which show how and when I’ve made this money:

WHICH MATCHED BETTING OFFERS DID I COMPLETE?

As I’ve been doing matched betting for more than a year now, most of the offers I complete are reload offers. These are the ongoing offers bookmakers have available. These enable you to make money matched betting month after month.

Most days I check the list of offers on Profit Accumulator and also review the ‘How to Make £1000 a Month’ thread on Profit Accumulator’s forum. This ensures I know about new offers as soon as they become available.

This month I was pleasantly surprised that there were lots of offers available with new bookmakers. Completing these offers gave my earnings a real boost.

BET X, AND GET A FREE BET: £106.84

  • These are the standard matched betting offers where you bet a certain amount and get a free bet.
  • With the football season back in full swing, there were lots of different offers to get involved in this month.

CASINO OFFERS: £113.33

  • If you’ve not yet completed any casino offers, I’d recommend you take a look at my introductory guide to casino offers.
  • They can be fun, but they can also be time consuming. And there’s no guarantee you’ll make money from them.
  • This month, I attempted lots of lower risk offers. While none gave me any substantial wins, the small amounts of money I kept banking slowly added up.
  • It is important to remember that not all casino offers are risk-free. Profit Accumulator always analyse each offer and provide guidance about the amount of money you are likely to make and how to approach the offers. I tend to tackle the riskier offers when I’m confident of making my £500 monthly matched betting target. And I’ll only ever tend to risk a maximum of £25 at any one time.
  • It’s important not to rely on casino offers alone for making money. However, I use them to top up my earnings and am prepared to get involved in the riskier offers if I’m having a good month. As my previous diary entries show, I have on occasions ended up down as a result of participating in these offers.
  • I would advise you to think carefully about the amount of money you want to risk. Then have a go. But always follow Profit Accumulator’s advice and never ever be tempted to try and win back any money you lose by having another go!

REFUND OFFERS: £106.38

  • These are offers where you receive a free bet depending on the outcome of match or competition. For example, you might get a free bet if your horse finishes first or second in a race. Or if a football match ends in a 0-0 draw.
  • As there is no guarantee of a free bet, these are riskier offers. You will suffer some qualifying losses if the refund trigger does not occur. My guide to the different types of risks involved in matched betting might help you understand more.

NEW OFFERS: £113.95

  • I always check the Sportsbook Signup Offers listed on Profit Accumulator every couple of months. There are always new bookmakers emerging onto the market. And most will have lucrative signup offers.
  • I was very surprised to see three new bookmaker offers which made me quite a substantial amount of money this month.
  • Completing these offers reminded me just how frustrating it can be completing some of the new offers. Many have large rollover requirements attached to them. This can be time consuming and laborious!
  • If you’re at that stage, I’d urge you to keep going. Once you complete the signup offers, you will find you understand the matched betting process much more fully. And you’ll be able to complete the offers much quicker. And what’s more, the reload offers rarely involve too much effort. This means the longer you do matched betting, the quicker and easier it is to make money.

PRICE BOOSTS: £55.99

  • Price boosts are when bookmakers increase the odds on certain events. These odds will often be higher than the prices on betting exchanges, which means you can make money instantly simply by placing a qualifying and a lay bet.
  • I love completing price boosts because they are very quick and easy to do. The amounts of money you can make from price boosts may seem very small – only a few pounds at a time, if that. However, it takes only a couple of minutes to complete the bets. And this money very quickly adds up.
  • To stay on top of them I follow the ‘Price Boosts Thread’ on the Profit Accumulator forum. Since some price boosts may only be available for a very short time, this ensures I receive an alert as soon as a boost is posted to the forum.
  • Most months I tend to make between £50-£100 from price boosts alone. There seemed to be fewer profitable price boosts available this month. But this may be due to the fact that I didn’t do any matched betting at the weekends.

ACCUMULATOR OFFERS: -£41.24

  • I recently wrote a guide about making money from accumulator bets.
  • With the return of the football season, I was hoping to do more accumulator bets. However, I didn’t anticipate that most bookmakers would either withdraw their offers or significantly alter their terms and conditions.
  • While there are still lots of offers available, it will be much harder to make significant amounts of money from them. This is particularly the case for me, as I don’t have a great deal of extra time to track and stay on top of my accumulator bets, especially if my weekends are busy.
  • That said, there is still money to be made. So I decided to undertake a few different offers this month.
  • My usual approach is to use the normal method and hope for a refund if only one leg loses. I will usually underlay each leg to reduce my qualifying losses. And if that team loses I will then swap to the refund lock in method to guarantee a small profit.
  • This didn’t work out on any of the accumulators I attempted this month. Firstly, I had a run of bad luck in that the lay odds drifted for nearly all of my selections. This meant my qualifying losses racked up quite significantly. So when I had a loser towards the end of each accumulator I decided to take a chance for the refund (as it would have been impossible to make a profit from the lock in method by that stage). Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on my side as all of those last legs also lost.
  • This has burnt me a little. It certainly is possible to make money from accumulator bets. But you will also make some losses. So I think it is probably best to do these types of bets only if you can place lots of them at the same time. It will then be easier to mitigate against your qualifying losses.
  • As I simply don’t have the time to do this, I think I might take a little break from accumulators for now.

MISTAKES: -£5.00

  • I’ve previously written about how easy it is to make mistakes when you do matched betting.
  • This month’s error was unfortunately caused by my rogue desktop computer. It’s got a very sensitive touch screen and mouse pad which inadvertently selected a completely different bet than I was planning to choose. In my rush to get the bet placed, I didn’t double check what I was doing. So I backed the wrong selection. It was quite a large bet, which I had to cash out, costing me £5.
  • So now I’m being extra cautious when I’m using the computer to place bets!

Matched betting mum daily planner

Matched Betting Daily Planner

I wrote a post a while ago about how I manage to fit in matched betting around my children. Since then, I’ve been thinking about whether there are more practical tips and advice I can offer.

Could I create a daily schedule to help people work out when to do matched betting? Would a diary showing when to look for offers help?

The trouble with these ideas is that they’re a little too prescriptive. The great thing about matched betting is that I can do it whenever it suits me. The time I have available for matched betting changes depending on what life throws at me every day.

But there are certain tasks I do every day when I’m matched betting. So I’ve pulled these all together in a daily planner for you to work through as you can. Whether you use Profit Accumulator or not, this should help you to work out the types of tasks you need to do every day.

MATCHED BETTING MUM DAILY PLANNER

Matched Betting Mum daily planner

Use this daily planner from Matched Betting Mum to help plan your matched betting

MATCHED BETTING PLANNER – CHECK

  • The first thing I do in the morning is to check for any new reload offers on Profit Accumulator.
  • I also check the bingo, casino and sportsbook signup offers every couple of weeks just to see if there are any new offers to do.
  • I also open the Profit Accumulator forum to ensure I receive alerts about any offers on my desktop computer as they come up during the day.
  • It is also worth checking your inbox (including your junk email) to see whether you have been sent any offers direct to your inbox. This is especially important during high profile sporting events or at the weekends when the football is on.

MATCHED BETTING PLANNER – SCHEDULE

  • Next it’s important to plan when you will place your bets. I always place whatever qualifying bets I can as soon as I see the offers advertised.
  • I will also check through my previous bets to check whether I am owed any free bets and will place these bets at the same time.
  • It is very important to schedule reminders if you need to place any bets at a later point. For example, many offers need to be done when a match is in-play. So I will set a reminder on my smartphone to do this as soon as the match starts. Similarly, I will also set reminders for the different stages of any accumulator bets I place. If I am due to be credited with free bets or casino bonuses at a later date I will also put these into my diary.

MATCHED BETTING PLANNER – SETTLE UP

  • I’ve written before about the importance of record keeping to keep track of the different bets you place and how much money you’ve made!
  • I try to update my records every couple of days so that this task doesn’t become too overwhelming.

MATCHED BETTING PLANNER – COMPLETE OFFERS

  • I find that I place bets through the day as different offers become available.
  • My calendar reminders will alert me to any bets I need to place at various points during the day.
  • I also check the computer periodically. Then, as I receive alerts for different offers, I will place these bets. For example, I will receive alerts for price boosts or close matches that are needed for some offers.
  • I will often complete casino offers when I’m relaxing in front of the TV or doing the ironing. This way, I can complete any lengthy wagering requirements without wasting large chunks of my day simply sitting in front of the computer.

MATCHED BETTING PLANNER – DOUBLE CHECK

  • I also sometimes check the list of reload offers again in the evening. At this time there are often some casino offers or free spins listed, which might only be available to coincide with a high profile sporting event.

I hope this gives you a good flavour of the different types of tasks I do most days and helps with your own planning. Matched betting can be a little overwhelming when you start out but it does become much easier the longer you do it! Now I rarely spend more than an hour matched betting each day.

Matched Betting Mum Profit Accumulator Diary

MATCHED BETTING DIARY…14 MONTHS ON

Every month I publish monthly matched betting diaries showing the amount of money I’ve made matched betting the previous month. My aim is to show just how much it is possible to make if you have a little spare time for matched betting.

I try to make about £500 per month matched betting. However, I expected my earnings to go down significantly this month.

As we were coming to the tail end of a quiet summer of sport I didn’t expect there to be many offers available in early August.

However, this month we were in Cyprus for nearly three weeks. This meant no matched betting. It was a full on family holiday, with no time for sitting back and sunbathing – let alone placing any bets!

I also don’t recommend attempting to place bets from other countries with UK bookmakers. Most bookmakers don’t allow those based outside the UK to bet with them. And they can detect whether you are accessing their sites through the IP address. Some people try to hide this with VPNs. However, I didn’t want to do anything which might flag my account to the bookmakers.

For these reasons, I hoped to make £100 this month. But I wasn’t sure if this was very realistic.

MATCHED BETTING EARNINGS

AUGUST 2017 – £211.18

  • The total amount I made matched betting in August 2017 was £211.18.

My matched betting this month was limited to the first couple of weeks in August. However, I also needed to entertain the children during this time. And trying to get us organised for a three week holiday took up an unfathomable amount of effort!

I probably spent about 8 hours in total matched betting. I was therefore very happy to make more than £200 in this time! This was boosted by a free bingo bonus offer, but I also had an unexpected boost from some racing offers associated to a small horse racing festival.

I missed out on most of the offers associated with the start of the new Premiership football season. But we had a brilliant time away. And, as we only paid £200 to fly all four of us to Cyprus and back business class – in the middle of the summer holidays – I wasn’t too fussed about missing out on a few offers for a while.

MATCHED BETTING EARNINGS TO DATE – £7932.61

Matched Betting Mum Diary 14 Months

Matched Betting Mum has made nearly £8,000 since she started matched betting in her spare time just over a year ago.

So I’ve made a total of £7932.61 since I started matched betting in July 2016.

Many people can and do make more than me. However, I do matched betting in my spare time around the children. At best, I can normally spare about six hours per week for matched betting. Most of the time this isn’t possible. So I’m chuffed to make as much as I have done over the last year.

You might want to look at my previous income reports, which show how and when I’ve made this money:

WHICH MATCHED BETTING OFFERS DID I COMPLETE?

Most of the money I make comes from checking the list of offers on Profit Accumulator most days. I also follow the ‘How to Make £1000 a Month’ thread on Profit Accumulator’s forum so I am notified of new offers when they become available.

Here’s a breakdown of the different types of offers I got involved in this month. Some offers will be riskier than others. So you might risk a qualifying loss for the chance of a free bet. My guide to the different types of risks involved in matched betting might help you understand this a little more.

BET X, AND GET A FREE BET: £97.12

  • These are the standard matched betting offers where you bet a certain amount and get a free bet.
  • Luckily, there was a horse racing festival this month which meant there were lots of offers available. These, together with a few advanced offers to celebrate the start of the new football season, helped me make quite a significant amount this month.

CASINO OFFERS: £16.95

  • If you’ve not yet completed any casino offers, I’d recommend you take a look at my introductory guide to casino offers.
  • They can be fun, but they can also be time consuming. And there’s no guarantee you’ll make money from them.
  • Further, not all casino offers are risk-free. Profit Accumulator always analyse each offer and provide guidance about the amount of money you are likely to make and how to approach the offers .I tend to tackle the riskier offers when I’m confident of making my £500 monthly matched betting target. And I’ll only ever tend to risk a maximum of £25 at any one time.
  • It’s important not to rely on casino offers for making money. However, I use them to top up my earnings and am prepared to get involved in the riskier offers if I’m having a good month. As my previous diary entries will show, I have on occasions ended up down as a result of participating in these offers.
  • I would advise you to think carefully about the amount of money you want to risk. Then have a go. But always follow Profit Accumulator’s advice and never ever be tempted to try and win back any money you lose by having another go!

REFUND OFFERS: £22.51

  • These are offers where you receive a free bet depending on the outcome of match or competition. For example, you might get a free bet if your horse finishes first or second in a race. Or if a football match ends in a 0-0 draw.
  • As there is no guarantee of a free bet, these are riskier offers. You will suffer some qualifying losses if the refund trigger does not occur.

BINGO OFFERS: £74.60

  • If you read my diaries regularly, you’ll be aware that I’ve been very lucky with some free bingo bonuses over the last few months.
  • The same happened again this month! I was very surprised and am sure my luck must have run out now. The same offer – a £5 free bonus at the beginning of the month – has paid out significant amounts of money to me three times in total!
  • This is purely down to luck. However, I’ve found that I tended to win when playing in the mornings. I also chose the games that fewer people were playing. While the prizes weren’t as large, this no doubt increased my chances of winning.

IS MATCHED BETTING FOR YOU?

If reading my diaries has inspired you to start matched betting, read my guide explaining what matched betting is.

MEET THE MATCHED BETTORS…THRIFTY MUM

The aim of this matched betting blog is to show how easy it is for anyone to do matched betting. It’s ideal for anyone with a little spare time. So whether you work full or part time, you’re at home with your children, studying or retired, it’s easy to top up your income.

I’ve recently introduced a monthly feature to give you the chance to meet some of the different people who do matched betting. This month I’m delighted to introduce Alison from Thrifty Mum.

meet matched betting bettors

Alison fits in matched betting around her two toddlers.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

Hi. I’m a mum to two cheeky toddlers. My daughter is nearly three and my son is one. Keeping me busy all the time. I work part-time on weekends and do matched betting and other side hustles during the week to top up my income. I’m lucky enough to spend my days watching my babies grow up and not be stuck at work all week.

HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT MATCHED BETTING AND WHAT DID YOU THINK?

I can’t remember where I first heard about it, I think I came across a blog about it. I did so much research on it before I had the courage to just give it a go. I’m so glad I did as it’s good fun as well as profitable.

WHEN DID YOU START MATCHED BETTING?

I started at the beginning of this year but really got stuck into it in March. I then made a real effort to spend a few hours a week matched betting.

WHY DOES MATCHED BETTING APPEAL TO YOU?

It’s perfect because you can fit it in between looking after the kids. I normally spend a couple of evenings a week doing it or if they both nap at the same time during the day.

HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND MATCHED BETTING?

I only do it a couple of evenings a week but want to up this so I can start earning even more.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THE MONEY YOU’RE MAKING MATCHED BETTING?

At the moment, nothing! It’s all been going back into the pot. Although my pot is getting a lot larger now so will start to “pay myself” very soon.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE THINKING ABOUT STARTING MATCHED BETTING?

Do your research but then just go for it! Ask for help if you need to but stick with it. It’s hard at first when you don’t have a lot of money to play with but this soon grows. That’s when the fun starts.

DO YOU WANT TO FEATURE ON MY BLOG?

I’m looking forward to introducing you to a new matched better next month. If you’d like to feature then please do comment below. You can also email (info@matchedbettingmum.com) or contact me via Twitter or Facebook. I’d love to hear from you!

MATCHED BETTING – IS IT REALLY RISK FREE?

The simple answer to this question is yes. Matched betting is a risk free way to make a considerable amount of extra money, month after month.

However, a couple of people have been in touch with me recently to query this. They’ve been confused by references to casino wins and risky bets whilst researching what matched betting is.

I can understand their confusion. A quick google search will throw up lots of people sharing their big casino wins and how they won free bets.

So, to dispel the confusion, this post explains just what is and isn’t risky about matched betting.

MISTAKES – THE BIGGEST RISK

Matched betting involves you using your own money to place bets against each other. Whilst matched betting services like Profit Accumulator will tell you exactly what you need to do, there’s always scope for human error.

I made a few mistakes when I started out. I didn’t lose too much money. In fact, some of the mistakes actually made me money. However, it’s a gut wrenching feeling when you do make a mistake. So I compiled a guide to the most common types of mistakes you can make when doing matched betting. Make sure you read this to know what types of mistakes to look out for.

RISK FREE MATCHED BETTING

Matched betting works by placing bets against each other out. You don’t lose any money when placing any qualifying bets because you will always get your money back. And, as you also use free bets given to you by bookmakers, you end up being able to keep this money.

By far the majority of all matched betting offers follow this process. And they are therefore completely risk free.

This includes all of the bookmaker sign up offers. There are more than 50 introductory offers listed on Profit Accumulator, worth over £2000. So there’s a lot of risk-free money to be made simply by signing up to different bookies.

As you carry on matched betting, you’ll move on to reload offers. Most of these offers follow exactly the same process and are risk free too.

The Profit Accumulator forum has dedicated threads to help you make £1000 per month (£300 if you also work full-time) from the reload offers. These threads list only risk-free offers.

riskier matched betting reload offers

If you’ve seen my guide to reload offers, you’ll be aware there are lots of different types of ongoing matched betting offers.

Most of these are risk-free. However, there are some riskier offers.

These are offers where you place your qualifying bets (both at the bookmakers and the exchange) but the free bet is dependent on a certain outcome. If that outcome doesn’t materialise then you won’t receive a free bet. If this happens, then you will lose your qualifying loss. However, these losses tend only to be very small amounts of money (about 10% of the bet you place as a maximum).

If you want to participate in these offers you should consider what the qualifying loss is likely to be and whether it is worth taking the risk in losing this amount of money.

In many circumstances it is also possible to mitigate against any qualifying losses:

  • if a free bet is dependent on a horse winning a race, you can overlay the amount of money you place at the betting exchange to ensure your qualifying losses are negligible. This means you will lose more initially if the horse wins but some of the free bet will cover this. If the horse loses, then you will lose nothing. Profit Accumulator’s calculator will help you select the amount you need to overlay when you put it into advanced mode.
  • You can choose to lock in a profit on accumulator offers, regardless of whether there is only one loser.
  • In some circumstances you can also lay against the refund event. For example, some football refunds might be dependent on a goalless draw. In these circumstances, you can often lay against the draw as well in order to guarantee you make money from these offers. This is known as locking in profit. You won’t make a great deal of money this way, but it ensures you will always make some money rather than leaving the refund to chance.

CASINO OFFERS

The other type of riskier offers are casino offers. Again, though, these aren’t always risky. In many instances, online casinos will give away free spins and bonuses. I’ve made a few hundred pounds this way.

But there are also some riskier offers, where you might have to wager through a certain amount of money in the casino in order to receive a free bet or bonus.

I’ve compiled a guide to help you get to grips with casino offers.

It’s important you decide how much you are willing to risk before attempting the riskier offers. I’m naturally more risk averse. So I only tend to risk a maximum of £20-£25 at any time. And, even then, I’ll only take the risk if I’m having a good month matched betting.

Many people are prepared to take bigger risks than me and will often make more money than me. They look at the whole picture and consider these small risks worth taking in the grander scheme of how much money they’ve made matched betting. I can understand this view point. However, I am reliant on the money I make matched betting each month. Hence my more cautious approach!

I hope you find this post useful. If you have any other questions about matched betting you can always take a look at my frequently asked questions. If there’s something you’re still unsure about then please do get in touch. You can email me (info@matchedbettingmum.com) or contact me via Twitter or Facebook.

NEW PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON – TIME TO START MATCHED BETTING

Football is back. Depending on your viewpoint this is either welcome news or pretty much the last thing you want to hear.

The new Premier League season starts tomorrow night, with Arsenal taking on Leicester City. No matter how hard you try, you’ll be hard pressed to avoid footy between now and next May.

I’ve always dreaded the start of the football season. Suddenly, our weekends and trips out need to be planned around football matches.

But things have changed this year for me. I actually can’t wait. This is because it’s going to be easier to top up my income.

The start of the new season is one of the most profitable times of year for matched betting.

MATCHED BETTING

For those who haven’t heard of matched betting, don’t worry – you’re not alone.

My guide to matched betting tells you everything you need to know. But, in a snapshot:

  • Matched betting is not gambling – the profits are guaranteed
  • You don’t need to know anything about football (or any sport for that matter)
  • It’s a proven method of earning a bit of extra cash each month

It basically involves triggering the bonuses offered by bookmakers to make cash. Now, to do this, you have to place a bet but, with matched betting, you also put money on the opposite outcome, to cover your stake. You really can’t lose.

The main challenges are finding the right bets and working out how to complete each one safely. But help is at hand – that’s where matched betting services come in.

There are a few out there but the biggest and most established is Profit Accumulator.

PROFIT ACCUMULATOR

In exchange for a monthly fee, they guide you through every step of the process to help you start earning. The amount you can make really depends on how much time you can spare. Some of their members make £1,000-plus every month. I tend to make about £500 per month from a few hours effort every week. My matched betting diaries set out my earnings in detail.

They have about 20,000 subscribers and many of them are stay-at-home parents. It’s easy to see why it’s popular – you can do it in your own time, when it suits you, from home (or anywhere with wifi) and all your earnings are tax-free.

Admittedly, it takes some getting your head around. The best thing to do is try the free trial, where you complete two example offers and can make about £35-£45.

WHY START MATCHED BETTING NOW?

Big sporting events are the best time for matched betting because that’s when the bookmakers have most of their offers on.

Members at Profit Accumulator lick their lips during Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National (some even take the week off work).

And the start of the new Premier League season is similar. Bookmakers are desperate to get new customers and existing customers gambling, so offer bigger than usual incentives, making it a perfect time to start matched betting.

To mark the start of the new season, Profit Accumulator is also offering full membership for three days for £1 for new customers and former customers who want to give it another go.

MONTHLY MATCHED BETTING DIARIES…13 MONTHS ON

I publish monthly matched betting diaries showing how much money I’ve made matched betting in the previous month. My aim is to show how easy it is to make a little extra cash matched betting in your spare time.

I try to make about £500 per month matched betting. However, it’s been a quiet summer of sport and I was expecting my earnings to go down this month. I hoped to make £100 but wasn’t sure how realistic this was.

PROFIT ACCUMULATOR COMPETITION

Last month was momentous, with me celebrating my first year matched betting.  To mark the occasion, I teamed up with Profit Accumulator to launch a great competition. You can win a year’s platinum membership to Profit Accumulator. It’s worth £150.

My Profit Accumulator review provides lots of information about what’s included in their membership package. So why not check it out and enter the competition today? The closing date is 31st August. Good luck!

I now rely on matched betting reload offers. These are the ongoing offers which allow you to carry on making money matched betting long after you’ve completed all of the bookmaker sign up offers. Most of the profitable matched betting offers tend to be connected to football. However, with no football tournaments this year, there hasn’t been too much to bet on.

MATCHED BETTING EARNINGS

JULY 2017 – £164.50

  • The total amount I made matched betting in June 2017 was £164.50

There weren’t many reload offers available this month so I didn’t expect to make much money. Added to this, the summer holidays are now upon us. I don’t like to do matched betting when the children are around. Splitting my attention between the children and a computer screen isn’t good for any of us. And it’s far more likely I’ll make some matched betting mistakes.

We’ve also been away a couple of times. I lost a few days at a fabulous wedding and its resultant 2-day hangover! And we also went with both sets of in laws to stay in a caravan in Norfolk another weekend.  Not for the faint hearted!

So it’s fair to say I haven’t had much time for matched betting. Maybe a few hours at most. I’m therefore pleasantly surprised to have made more than £150 this month.

With the return of the football season in August there will be lots more offers available. However, I’m away in Cyprus for almost three weeks. So I’ll be missing out on these. I hope to make about £100 again since I won’t be around once the football starts. But I can’t wait to have a holiday. And as we only paid £200 to fly all four of us to Cyprus and back business class, I’m not too bothered about missing out on offers for a little while.

MATCHED BETTING EARNINGS TO DATE – £7721.43

Matched betting mum earnings diary profit accumulator

Matched Betting Mum made more than £7500 since starting matched betting with Profit Accumulator in July 2016

So I’ve made a total of £7721.43 since starting matched betting in July 2016. I know there are lots of people out there who make an awful lot more than this. However, I do matched betting in my spare time around the children. At best, I can normally spare about six hours per week for matched betting. And as this month’s report shows, this isn’t always possible.

All of my previous income reports are listed here in case you find them helpful:

WHICH MATCHED BETTING OFFERS DID I COMPLETE?

Most of the money I make comes from checking the list of offers on Profit Accumulator most days. I also follow the ‘How to Make £1000 a Month’ thread on Profit Accumulator’s forum so I am notified of new offers when they become available.

Here’s a breakdown of the different types of offers I got involved in this month:

BET X, AND GET A FREE BET: £19.19

  • These are the standard matched betting offers where you bet a certain amount and get a free bet.
  • There weren’t too many offers available this month and I also rarely logged in to check. I have been taking part in an offer that will give me a £50 free bet next month, so this will be boosted next month.

CASINO OFFERS: £87.96

  • If you’ve not yet completed any casino offers, I’d recommend you take a look at my introductory guide to casino offers.
  • Not all casino offers are risk-free. Profit Accumulator always analyse each offer and provide guidance about the amount of money you are likely to make and how to approach the offers.I tend to tackle the riskier offers when I’m confident of making my £500 monthly matched betting target. And I’ll only ever tend to risk a maximum of £25 at any time.
  • This month I was reluctant to tackle the risky offers since I knew my matched betting income was likely to be low. So I only took part in the risk free offers. I was lucky to hit a big win which boosted my income dramatically this month.

PRICE BOOSTS: £12.12

  • I like completing price boosts because they are a quick way to make money instantly. The amount of money you can make from enhanced prices can seem very small (only a few pounds at a time, if you are lucky). But as it’s so quick to place the bets this is a very efficient way of making money.
  • Clearly, I didn’t participate in many price boosts this month. However, I made this money simply from placing two different bets.

TENNIS REFUND OFFERS: £36.85

  • These are offers where you receive a free bet depending on the outcome of match or competition. There were a few offers connected to Wimbledon this month. I participated in one where I would receive a free bet if the person I backed to win the championship lost in five sets.
  • As there is no guarantee of a free bet, these are riskier offers. You will suffer some qualifying losses if the refund trigger doesn’t happen. I managed to find a close match for Nadal with only minimal qualifying losses. I reasoned that one of the favourites was more likely to lose in five sets, so took the chance. And it paid off when Nadal exited the tournament early.

ACCUMULATOR OFFERS: £8.38

  • Accumulators can be a very lucrative form of additional income if you have enough time to place and track the bets. This guide to accumulator bets tells you how you can make money from these offers.
  • Finding and placing these bets is very easy, thanks to the brilliant Acca Catcher tool Profit Accumulator have developed.
  • However, with no football to bet on, I wasn’t expecting to make any money from accas this month.
  • But the qualifying stages for the Europa league started this month, with some low priced favourites playing. This meant there was an opportunity to make money locking in profit by laying off all the legs at the same time. As all the teams I backed won, I made a fair amount of profit from only one accumulator.

IS MATCHED BETTING FOR YOU?

If reading my diaries has inspired you to start matched betting, read my guide explaining what matched betting is.

Then I’d recommend signing up for a free trial with Profit Accumulator. They walk you through the matched betting process step by step. With only a few hours spare each week to do matched betting, I find the service Profit Accumulator offers invaluable. They tell me which offers to complete and help me find the bets. This saves me hours searching for offers alone. Instead, I focus on making money! My Profit Accumulator review has lots more information about the service  they provide.

Profit Accumulator’s free trial allows you to make £35-£40 simply by trying a couple of the different introductory offers available. It’s the perfect way to see if matched betting is for you.

WHO CAN DO MATCHED BETTING? MEET THE MATCHED BETTORS

My aim in running this matched betting blog is to show how easy it is for anyone to do matched betting. It’s ideal for anyone with a little spare time. So whether you work full or part time, you’re at home with your children, studying or retired, it’s possible to make substantial amounts of extra cash. To highlight this, I’m introducing a new monthly feature so you can find out more about the type of people who make extra money matched betting.

INTRODUCING JODIE, THE MATCHED BETTING MUM

To kick start things, I thought it was only fair that you found out a little bit more about me. You can find out more about my background here.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

I’m Jodie, I’m 38  and I live in rural Suffolk. Until I had my daughter five years ago, I had a high flying career in the civil service mapped out for me. But, with a move to the countryside planned, I decided to jump ship when voluntary redundancies were offered. I’d longed to start up my own small business and work for myself, so it seemed the perfect opportunity to try something new.

I ran a small antiques and vintage business from home but was forced to take a break when my son was born two years ago. This made me realise just how much time the business took up. So I started to look into alternative options to make money. Like so many other people, I wanted to do something which also give me the flexibility to be there for my young family.

Now my days are occupied running around after two hectic and mad little children, whilst squeezing in time to make extra cash matched betting and running this blog.

HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT MATCHED BETTING AND WHAT DID YOU THINK?

I can remember first seeing matched betting mentioned on a forum a couple of years ago. After a quick google search, I saw there was a thread all about it on Money Saving Expert. But highlighted in bold at the top it also said you needed to be cautious doing matched betting. So I assumed it was some form of trading and didn’t read it any further.

However, a few months later I came across a reference again. This time, I was intrigued enough to do a little more research. Initially, I didn’t really understand how matched betting could work. It’s fair to say I was also a little bit sceptical. However, after seeing lots of people sharing their experiences on Netmums and also reading about a journalist testing it out in the Guardian, I decided it might be worth a try.

After researching various matched betting services, I decided to sign up to Profit Accumulator’s free trial. With more than 20,000 members, this provided me with assurance that their training and advice would be of  a high standard. I wasn’t disappointed! My Profit Accumulator review gives a detailed account of the service they provide.

WHEN DID YOU START MATCHED BETTING?

Last July. I’ve now been doing matched betting for a year! Since then I’ve made more than £7,500. You can find out how I’ve done this in my regular matched betting diary series.

WHY DOES MATCHED BETTING APPEAL TO YOU?

Matched betting is a really easy and quick way to make money from home. When I started I hoped to make about £500 per month but wasn’t sure how realistic this was. But it really is possible! Once you understand the process it takes hardly any time at all. And I can squeeze it in easily around the children.

HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND MATCHED BETTING?

I try to allow myself about an hour for matched betting most days. However, squeezing in this time alongside the school run, play dates and running this blog means this isn’t always possible.

In general, on a good week I’ll normally spend about six hours matched betting. But if I’m busy – especially at the weekends – it’s not unusual for me to spend a maximum of three to fours hours matched betting each week.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THE MONEY YOU’RE MAKING MATCHED BETTING?

Some garden renovations and house decorating last year meant we built up some debt. Matched betting will allow us to clear that debt earlier than originally planned.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE THINKING ABOUT STARTING MATCHED BETTING?

Be diligent and do some research about what matched betting is first of all. Have a good read of my post offering tips for anyone starting out. Matched betting isn’t for everyone so have a think about whether it might suit you. My summary of the pros and cons of matched betting is helpful background reading. You may also want to open a separate bank account or build up a small pot of money which you can use to get started.

Other than this, though, don’t hold back! I was really nervous when I started and kept putting it off. My biggest regret is that I didn’t start matched betting earlier than I did.

MATCHED BETTING?

Many people are put off matched betting because they think it’s a form of gambling. But it’s not! It’s simply a process to take advantage of the free bets and bonuses bookmakers give out. Matched betting involves placing bets which cancel each other out. Therefore, you don’t lose money. Instead, you get your money back. As you use free bets, rather than your own money, you get to walk away with the value of those free bets.

Matched betting is a tried and tested way of making some extra money, as highlighted in The Telegraph and Huffington Post. This is what The Guardian had to say when it reviewed matched betting as a way for people to earn extra money:

With bookmakers offering ‘free bets’ to tempt new customers, you can play the system and pocket hundreds of pounds – with little risk to your own cash (The Guardian, June 2010)

As someone who had no experience – or interest – in gambling or betting, I was very nervous when I started. However, one year on, I’ve made £7500 in my spare time, fitting it in around my two young children. Matched betting is the perfect way to make some extra cash, whether you need it for everyday things or want to save for something special. My aim in running this website is to help explain what matched betting is to help people like me. It features tips to help people get started matched betting, a guide to the terminology of this strange world and lots of frequently asked questions about matched betting.
